Meet Kompot – A Perfect Fruit Beverage

18 ounces (approx. 500 grams) currants
18 ounces (approx. 500 grams) peaches
1/2 gallons (2 liters) of water
1 cup sugar
If you are in Europe, this summer may have felt like an autumn’s rehearsal so far. Elsewhere people have been suffering from heat waves, maybe desperately hoping for a perfect summer drink (not all of us can drink pure water all day long, and we certainly do not endorse severe Coca/Pepsi/Whatever-cola consumption, and you don’t want us to start telling you what they put into those “sugar-free” drinks instead of sugar, do you?).
So meet Kompot (accent on the last syllable) – a non-alcoholic fruit punch of some sort, absolutely easy to make, refreshing and one of our favorite summer drinks.
Boil the water, immediately after boiling pour in the sugar, then put in the fruits. Cook for about 15 minutes. Serve chilled (if this summer is hot where you are now. If it isn’t – Kompot can be enjoyed hot as well!).

July 28, 2011Nothing like a drink with big chunks of fruit in it. Super that it can be served hot or cold. Tempting pictures-yum!
